Welcome to my little part of the world

This website is the a personal website to air my interests and wander through my hobbies and passtimes or pretty much anything else that comes to mind. Enjoy. I have been crafting and making for a long time now .
I must admit though that my persona has always been to flit between hobbies when i get bored and then return to them at a later date.

NEWS and UPDATES

A jolly Good Read
2012-02-20

As a beginner one of the hardest things to get over is the fact that not everything you make will work or be a success when you make it the first time.
A good way to shorten the odds of getting things to work the way you wanted is to get a basic grounding in the subject matter relating to the projects you are attempting.

If your project involves getting something to move you could do worse than to read 'Making Things Move DIY Mechanisms for Inventors, Hobbyists, and Artists' by Dustyn Roberts.
The subject matter in this book is very straightforward and gives you a good grounding in easy to understand language in the basics of mechanics and how to put an idea together.
Dustyn writes things in an easy flowing style and the examples given reflect real world situations and dont over stress you with pages of mathematical equations. There are lots of diagrams and some really fun projects to turn your hand to.

Maker Fair UK 2012 Not Going Ahead
2012-02-18

After missing the UK maker faire in Newcastle last year because I was working I was really looking forward to attending this years event.

I have just been on the maker faire website and found that this year there is not going to be one due to lack of funding.

I find unbelievable that in a place the size of England there cannot even be a single anywhere in the country.

Although Newcastle is a lovely place, it is quite remote and a much larger attendance would be assured if it was to be held in somewhere like Manchester or Birmingham. This seems to work for the Hobbycraft faires so why not a UK maker faire.
